Federal & State Initiatives on Emerging Information on Chemical Toxicity"Federal & State Initiatives on Emerging Information on Chemical Toxicity," Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the Westford Regency Inn and Conference Center, Westford, MA. The purpose of this Workshop was to provide an opportunity for environmental, public health, toxicologists, and others in the Northeast to learn about various federal initiatives to improve our understanding about the toxicity of a wide variety of chemicals used in manufacturing operations and products. EPA Headquarters program staff involved in the High Volume Production (HPV) initiative led part of the session and shared their approach to data gathering and management on the toxicity of chemicals that are used in large volumes in manufacturing. This EPA effort is an attempt to fill important gaps in the toxicity data that is available on these chemicals. The Workshop also included a discussion about initiatives underway in the Northeast to improve information gathering and diffusion on chemical toxicity and potential public health and environmental impacts and how to improve coordination regionally.
